Where did AMIVIO come from?
Our Story
AMIVIO began long before the first issue was published.
It started with a simple question from a high school student who loved biology but knew one thing for certain: medicine was not the path she wanted to follow.
While searching for alternatives, she discovered biotechnology. The idea was fascinating. Using living systems to solve real-world problems and shape the future sounded exactly like the kind of science she wanted to be part of. Yet there was a problem.
Biotechnology was difficult to understand from the outside. Finding information was easy. Finding a community was not.
Most scientific spaces felt intimidating, overly academic, and focused on achievements rather than learning. It often seemed that science was presented as a collection of perfect results, publications, and citations, while the reality of becoming a scientist was much messier.
As a biotechnology student, I realized that many people felt the same way. Students, aspiring researchers, and science enthusiasts were looking for a place where they could explore science without feeling that they had to know everything already.
That idea became AMIVIO.
AMIVIO was created to make science more approachable and human. We believe that science is not only about discoveries. Our goal is to build a science culture where people can learn together, ask questions freely, share ideas, and grow into the scientists they want to become.
